Dressmaker customer requests: make a clear commission brief

Editorial worksheet · use the request in your game · Reviewed 29 September 2026

Copy the current customer’s request into the planner, then keep your intended design and spending limit alongside it. Use the brief shown for that commission as your reference.

Start with this commission

The official press kit describes townsfolk ordering dresses to suit their tastes and occasions. A useful working brief records what the current request actually says. Avoid replacing it with a preference table for the character unless you have checked that the table applies to your present commission.

Write the customer or commission name in the first field. In the notes field, separate the request from your plan. For example: “Request: [words shown in game]. Plan: [my intended shape and fabric].” The bracketed text is a writing prompt, not an example of a real customer order.

Read limits before improving the dress

A red quality requirement can mean the dress exceeds a maximum, not that it needs more careful stitching. In one Reddit discussion the player confirmed this after repeatedly trying to improve a score of 100 against a target of 70. Read the wording in your sketchbook before reworking the dress.

Fabric targets also need context: players describe the draft’s green range as an estimate and report different finished results when changing the mix of fabrics. Keep the intended material beside each panel, then compare the finished result to this commission’s brief.

Use the checklist as a pause before spending

The worksheet has four reminders: record the request, check panel placement, check the planned spend and review the plan. They are personal planning steps; ticking them does not change the game or verify that a design will score well.

If a panel is difficult to identify, follow the pattern-pieces guide before choosing its fabric. If your figures exceed the limit you set, return to your choices and update the numbers. A clear note is easier to revise than a remembered intention.

Review the brief after making a change

Changing the shape, fabric or decoration can leave an older note out of date. Read the original request again, update the plan and save it. The worksheet only knows what you enter; it cannot inspect the mannequin or your inventory.

Keep any feedback you receive in the game as an observation about that particular attempt. Record the design and materials with it if you want to learn from the comparison. A single result does not establish a hidden scoring formula.

Share a specific plan

A link to a filled planner lets another player see the same request notes, cost inputs and checklist. Give it a recognisable commission name and include the game build if you know it. Anyone with that link can read those details.

For help with a vanished pattern, share the relevant troubleshooting guide as well. That keeps a recovery problem separate from advice about styling the commission.
