Follow a panel through the worktable

1. Choose the component you want to inspect in the sketchbook. Its component names are clickable.
2. Find the corresponding panel in inventory and pause the pointer over it to read its mannequin placement hint.
3. Record that placement beside your fabric choice before moving to another panel.

This sequence uses two controls documented in the 24 September patch notes. It is useful when several similar pieces make it difficult to connect a flat shape to the finished dress. Work through one component at a time so your notes stay attached to the panel you actually selected.

Why the hint matters

In a 24 September Steam discussion, cocytushexen described repeatedly moving between the sketchbook, cutting table and mannequin while working on Alice’s dress. ToasterTiefling replied that seeing separate pattern pieces would also help when planning how to use fabric. These are player requests for clearer identification, not a complete pattern catalogue.

The placement hint answers where an inventory panel belongs. It does not tell you how much fabric a different design will consume or predict its final score. Keep those decisions separate from identifying the piece.

When the expected hint is absent

Check that Steam has applied the game updates available to you. The developer introduced the inventory hint in Build 410; older prototype instructions describe a different interface. If the panel itself is absent from inventory, use the missing-pattern checklist instead.

For a reusable record, write the component name, placement hint and intended fabric in the planner. A note such as “selected sleeve, placement checked, blue fabric” is your own observation; it should not become a universal rule for other designs.
