What unlocks after the third commission

The developer answered this directly in a September 22 discussion about replayability. Off-the-rack dresses provide a way to design outside a customer brief. The official Steam description also describes displaying premade dresses in the shop window.

If you are still in the opening commissions, follow those requests until the independent dress option is introduced. A video of an experienced player using a large fabric collection does not mean those choices will be available in a fresh save.

Separate creative freedom from unlimited resources

Players asking for a free mode often mean different things: no customer objective, all materials unlocked, unlimited money, or a way to return to old designs. Off-the-rack making answers the first of those; the developer explicitly says money and unlocks remain limits.

The Reddit mod discussion shows interest in unlimited funds and additional patterns. That enthusiasm is not proof of official Workshop support, a safe download, or a promised sandbox update. This guide does not require a mod.

Give yourself one manageable brief

1. Name the experiment in the commission planner and write one thing you want to try.
2. Set your own spending limit before shopping, even though there is no customer budget for this plan.
3. Keep the design small enough to finish, then record what you would change on the next attempt.

A blank design can be harder to start than a commission. Choose one constraint you like: a single colour, one unfamiliar sleeve, or a dress using fabric already in your inventory. These are Fieldnotes prompts, not in-game achievements.

Keep a record of a finished dress

In the design-sharing thread, donnadoctor reports that the photo screen lets you change the background before finishing, and that the upper-left sketchbook tabs let you revisit earlier dresses for photos. Look there when you want to show an old creation rather than starting a replacement.

The planner can preserve your idea and costs; it cannot export the dress model, reopen your game save or unlock materials. Keep a game screenshot separately if you want to compare the finished result with your original brief.
